2012 was a big year for my little family, but I’m so glad it’s
over!! We’ve had lots of ups and downs along the way.
Here’s a breakdown of our 2012.
January: We finally let everyone know that we were having a baby. It turns out my mom had told everyone already, but it was nice not to have to hide being pregnant anymore!
February: On Valentine’s day we had our big ultrasound and found out that we would be welcoming a little girl into the world. Then we went into nursery decorating mode!
March: We went on a little “babymoon” and celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary a couple months early since I was due so close to our actual anniversary. We went to Milwaukee and ate our way through the city, stopping at places like The Safehouse, Maders, Comet CafĂ©, the Art Museum (where parts of Transformers 3 was filmed), and Lakefront Brewery (my husband got double the samples since I was pregnant!). It was a great way to have fun before our little one arrived.
April: Nothing special, just pregnant and probably miserable! haha
May: I had my baby shower! It was a lot of fun and we were most definitely spoiled!
June: I don’t remember much about June, just that I was so done being pregnant! I refused to leave the house or have any visitors. We had our real anniversary and went out for lunch at Olive Garden.
July: Probably the biggest rollercoaster of events that have ever happened in my life, I hope I never have a month like it ever again! On the 3rd my husband had carpal tunnel surgery. I went into labor on the 5th, had Aliceana in the 6th. On the 7th she was taken to Meriter hospital in Madison. After 2 weeks of us all staying in Madison, Aliceana was diagnosed with NEHI and we got to bring her home on oxygen. A little fun fact, Aliceana, my husband, and myself all had IVs for the first time that same week, what are the chances of that?
August: Not much happened, just a lot of sleepless nights and doctor appointments. I also turned 22 on the 30th.
September: My husband turned 28 on the 3rd. Aliceana had her last home nurse visit! Thinking back I don’t know how I handled the home nurse visits with a newborn. I’d have to run around the house like a crazy person making sure that our house was somewhat presentable when the nurse came over. Aliceana also had her baptism!
October: Aliceana’s first Halloween. It was pretty uneventful, she didn’t fit into the original costume we bought her so I had to improvise. It was also way too cold to actually take her out, yay Wisconsin weather..
November: Aliceana’s first Thanksgiving! She played in her jumper during most of it. The week before Thanksgiving, we found out that there was a possibility that she could be taken off the oxygen. We kept it a secret though, as we were anxious enough without people pestering us about results.
December: It was official, Aliceana is off of oxygen! It was so nice being able to share the happy news with everyone! Aliceana got to celebrate Christmas like a normal healthy baby! We still have a long road filled with lots of specialist appointments, but our little girl has come such a long way in the past 6 months!

Here’s to hoping that 2013 is a little more boring for this
family! ;)

You certainly had quite the eventful year! So glad the year is ending on a high note for you with Aliceana off the oxygen! Happy New Year, Britt!
