Our homemade Christmas gifts

For Christmas gifts this year we opted to make gifts instead of purchasing them. We made gift baskets complete with baked goods, homemade wine, and salt dough ornaments.

My husband made a customized wine label for each family with different themes. Here are my favorite three.
My grandparents have two of the cutest dogs ever, and one of them looks and sounds a little bit like Chewbacca so we call him a “Wookie.” So we had to make Wookie wine! My husband Photoshopped the little ammo belt onto him.

A cow for my father-in-law, and his new fiancĂ© (so excited that they got engaged over Christmas!) They’ve both lived on farms in the past, so a cow label was very fitting.

I had to put a picture of my sister and I looking our best on her bottle of wine! This picture was when we had just started dating the guys were with now and we were both really skinny. We used the name “hot bitches” for this wine, because I lack creativity!

Here are all 6 bottles; for my mom we chose a picture of her dogs, for one of my Aunts we used a cabin theme, and for my other Aunt we used clovers because her husband is very Irish and they celebrate their Irish heritage and I believe their school mascot is “The Irish”. I think they turned out cute! It killed me a little to give away 6 bottles of homemade wine though, it’s so good!

We included baked goods; my husband’s famous chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, brownies with peanut butter cookie dough frosting (recipe to come soon!) and snickerdoodle blondies (recipe here).

Here’s the finished basket! We got the baskets at the dollar store. You can see the saltdough ornament of Aliceana’s handprint! Our saltdough ornaments turned out so cute, and will definitely be a holiday tradition in our household. I might have even made a dog print ornament for us with Buddy’s pawprint, so cute!!

I think overall it turned out really well, in an ideal world I would have made the baskets prettier and baked a few more items, but it was hard enough to bake what we did!

Did you make any homemade gifts? Tell me about them in the comments!

  1. This is awesome! What a cool idea. Jason and I tried to make our own limoncello this year, but it just tastes like lemon flavored moonshine....
