My rock n’ roll wedding!

January 12, 2012 by Brittany 9 Comments

Our wedding was a very hands on DIY Rock and Roll theme, and it turned out just like we hoped it would. We met at a concert, and music really brought us together in the beginning of our relationship, so it only made sense to break out the chucks, guitars, and records.

DIY Rock n Roll Wedding Theme

Here are the down and dirty details. My wedding came in at around $8000, because I did everything myself. We also got a steal on the gorgeous hall and catering! I’m pretty sure the fact that my wedding took place in a teeny tiny town in the middle of nowhere helped a lot with the price, but it was so worth the twenty minute drive. The food was to die for, people are still talking about it today! Our menu was bacon wrapped pork loin, beef tenderloin tips, brown sugar glazed baby carrots, mashed garlic baby red potatoes, biscuits, and I think we had a pasta salad that I wouldn’t eat since I’m not a fan of pasta salads.

Well anyway, to the important things! Here’s the part where I show you all the details that I had worked on for over a year!

This is how we decorated the ceremony site (my grandparent’s backyard) It looked way better than I had imagined!

My bridesmaids wore polka dot dresses and held balloons tied to video game remotes.

The groomsmen wore custom made ties and boutonnieres.

Here’s my husband modeling the tie. I had them made at cyberoptix.com they had great customization and group ordering discounts, they made an awesome groomsmen’s gift too!

The fabulous bouts made by surroundingsonline.com. It was a pleasure working with this company, they made these bouts just for my wedding and included extra hardware that we put in with my husband’s rose bout.

Here are my fabulous little people! My cousins and niece were ring bearer and flower girls. My grandma actually made the flower girl outfits!

I found this somewhere on Etsy.com, for my ring bearer to carry down the aisle.

Oh and here are my fabulous wedding shoes! from BetseyJohnson.com

Here we are getting married!!

Here we are giggling at the Final Fantasy fan fare music that our dear friend and wedding musician played as we were pronounced man and wife! We left this out at rehearsal to surprise our nerdy friends.

Oh!! A picture of my gorgeous bouquet! I loved it so much with all the pretty feathers.
Now on to the party!
The escort cards, everyone had fun with their drumsticks and loved the idea!I made an easy template on Paint actually and filled in everyone’s names. Then I had it printed at Staples so it would be more vibrant, some double sided tape and voila!
This is one of our three guest books. The records have the same symbol that my husband and I have on our wrists! They filled up pretty well by the end of the night, I need better frames so I can hang them up.
Here are the glasses that welcomed my husband and I at our table. They looked so pretty! I like them much better than the normal toasting flutes! This was another Etsy purchase.
This is the centerpiece that we had on the head table and family tables. We took wine bottles and wine cooler bottles, sanded them, placed stickers on them (music notes and hearts), primed them, painted them, then removed the stickers. They looked great with carnations.
These are the second kind, music stands and music note picture holders. My husband actually welded all of these himself. The tables were named after concerts we had been to together and the pictures were pictures taken from those concerts. Both centerpieces were laid on top of a vinyl record for some extra flare. I put music note ribbon around little votive candle holders and had placed a monogrammed “B” to cover the seam.
This is the only picture I have of the guitar case card box. We cut a hole in the case, secured it to a wooden box draped in red fabric, and left the case open with play money scrunched up inside of it. It resembled a street musician’s case and was so adorable, but all three photographers missed it! haha
The cakes, they were actually made by my Aunt. They looked amazing! I cried when I saw them, the smaller cake was a complete surprise, I loved it! They tasted soooo good too! I love my Aunt so much for helping us out with this, she took an entire week off of work to prep for this.
How about some posed shots of us and the bridal party to bring this post to a close!
